About us

Founded in 2018, the Heart2Heart Music Association is a volunteer driven, non-profit organization that is dedicated to sharing the power of music with seniors and residents across Alberta.

Our organization is always looking for new and innovative ways to engage with seniors and nursing homes. Since 2018, we have been given many performance opportunities with organizations in Calgary and throughout Alberta, and we are further grateful for the support and assistance of our partners. These collaborations are inseparable from the success of our organization's outreach.

Jennis is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Heart to Heart program. Born and raised in Calgary, Jennis began her piano training at the age of five and has progressed through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) curriculum. From competing in the Calgary Performing Arts Festival to taking on RCM examinations, she is currently pursuing her ARCT certificate. Recently, she graduated with a Master of Public Health from the University of Alberta, specializing in Health Policy & Management and Health Economics. Now residing in Edmonton, she works as a policy analyst with Alberta Health. In her free time, she enjoys discovering new music, reading, working out, and exploring the outdoors.

Her passion for music, along with her love for working with children, led her to teach piano lessons and volunteer at the Alberta Children's and Foothills hospital for multiple years. Now, Jennis is dedicated to using her musical expertise to bring joy to seniors and patients. She is committed to fostering an inclusive, comfortable, and uplifting music culture in senior homes, nursing homes, and hospitals to enhance the wellbeing of those in care.

Megan Lee

Co-founder, Executive Director

Megan was born and raised in Calgary, and has been a part of the music community for almost her whole life. She began her piano study at the age of 5 and quickly excelled through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) curriculum. Besides being a frequent competitor at the Calgary Kiwanis Festival (currently known as the Calgary Performing Arts Festival), she has also challenged herself to excel in RCM exams and received her ARCT certificate. To broaden her love of music, Megan learned clarinet as her second instrument and joined the junior high school band at grade 6. She was an active member of the McGill Symphonic Band Club as a clarinetist, but has graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor's degree in Physiology. Recently, she completed her Master's degree in Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Alberta. When she isn’t performing music, one can find her playing badminton, volunteering at the hospital or studying for her degree in Medicine at the University of Calgary.

Music outreach is close to Megan’s heart. She hopes to organize a group of young musicians to share their music with the residents in senior homes and patients in the hospitals. Besides giving these budding musicians a chance to showcase their talents and love of music, the life of seniors and patients in the Calgary community will certainly be enriched.

Jessie Jiang

Secretary

Growing up in Calgary, Jessie has played piano for most of her life alongside her two siblings. Through the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, she has reached a Grade 10 Level playing pieces ranging from all various genres. She has also participated in the Calgary Kiwanis Festival for many years and has been a recipient of numerous awards. Currently, Jessie is a student at the University of British Columbia pursuing a Bachelors of Kinesiology with a Minor in Geography. With a passion for climate justice and environmental health, she strives to see how art and music can be utilized as a way to translate knowledge beyond an academic field. While working with Brain Wellness Program in British Columbia, she organizes group classes where participants with neurological disorders can form community through music. Aside from her interests in piano, Jessie can often be found knitting, backpacking, or bouldering in Vancouver (+ all over the world!).

She hopes to contribute to a future where creative expression is central to forming community in all spaces we are present in.
